80% Resin Star

I was really pleased with this star when I unwrapped it, lovely deep cherry red, then I noticed that one ray had been replaced...

Browning 1910

Some pics of my Browning model 1910 cal 7.65mm. Its a very nice and clean little pistol, inside and outside. I think it dates back to the 70's or 80's because of the wooden grips instead of the earlier hard rubber grips. The caliber is not very populair in the States, but overhere its not very hard to find amo for it. I even fired some wwII amo with it, as a friend had two original boxes of amo for me dating back to wwII. From the 100 rounds about 20 didn't work.
I'm putting this one up for sale.

Remains discovered of a T34 along with it’s crew

Hi Guys, I came across this article about the remains being discovered in Belgorod. The crew could not be identified but at least they have had a proper military burial now.

I have posted a link translated in English.

Google ??????????

Here are the photos of the glasis plate of the tank.

In case the link should die in the future here is the text again from it in Russian and English:

Belgorod-historical club search «Fire Arc», on the eastern outskirts of the village Wise, at the site of a former village Generalovka, found the remains of nine of the Soviet Red Army soldiers and a tank T-34. All soldiers reburied, as part of the T-34 will transmit the museum.

The first find at the edge of a reasonable local resident found during the development of land. When digging the soil, he discovered the remains of Red Army soldier. This was immediately reported Regional Emergency Management and the club «Fire Arc», which conducts the search activities in Belgorod and Belgorod region.

When working on-site search engines Club and engineers have found the remains of nine EMERCOM Red Army soldiers, 160 units of explosive devices, as well as large fragments of the T-34. Unfortunately, the names of Soviet soldiers could not be determined. When they were remnants of clothing, CD PPSH, engineer spatula, pot, buttons Red Army, but no post-mortem medallions, or other items to identify the owners, not proved.

At meter depth in the former trenches and crater found frontal armor, caterpillar, engine parts and transmissions T-34. It appears that the tank was blown up from inside, the fragments scattered on the welding seams. Lobova hatch armor to the driver and a jack under the tank's machine gun Degtyarev weighing nearly 4 tons of well-preserved and partially left the layer of paint, reported IA «Bel.Ru» Secretary Club «Fire Arc» Sergei Petrov.

In place of discovery in the height of the village Generalovka July 6, 1943 was bloody battle. At the position of the 73rd Guards Rifle Division, General Kozak and 7 th Guards Army General Shumilova from the reasonable to the east attacked more than 100 tanks divisions Wehrmacht generals von Funk and von Hyunesdorfa.

On their way to death were hardened in the Stalingrad battle Guard 209 th and 214 th Rifles. They supported the Soviet tankmen 27 th Guards Tank Brigade, Colonel Nevzhinskogo. Party suffered heavy losses, the Germans managed to advance to the testimony and Batratskoy Belovo, Generalovka in the day left for them.

Apparently, said Sergei Petrov, a tank exploded belonged to 27-th Guards Tank Brigade, as the battle of the 73rd Guards Rifle Division did not have tanks. At 6 July 1943 in order of 27 th Brigade, there were 35 T-34 tanks. Perhaps the tank was blown up by crew on 6 July, with departure of our troops, not to reach the enemy, or is already padded - the Germans during their retreat after a month.

The real part of the legendary T-34, who died in battle on the outskirts of Belgorod during the Kursk battle, are of great cultural and historical value and a fine display of any museum. Search Engines are planning to transfer part of the T-34 built in Prokhorovka museum of military glory Third Ratne fields in Russia. And all the soldiers reburied to 5 August in the Belgorod region.

Cheers, Ade.

Latest car boot finds

Hi all

Just got back from the car boot and thought I'd let you see what I found today.

Not bad for £3 !!! Absolutely superb condition given their age. Someone has taken REALLY good car of them.

Here's some photos of the inside of each.

The transport command book...

The inside of the travellers hindustani. Some of the 'popular' phrases in here are hiliarious, such as, 'Madam, I did, but owing to wind it has become dirty again' and 'Look here! The garden is very dirty'.

The overseas service book. Interestingly Europe is not listed !!

And on the back page I have already spotted this excellent piece of advice....

.....'Snakes are most frequently found in tents, bath houses and latrines. As a rough guide, the little fellows are poisonous, the big ones are not.'

Let's hope nobody came across a 6 foot cobra then !!!!

And lastly the health hints book. Full of illustrartions this book, and written in quite a 'jolly' manner.

The last page summarises the booklet quite nicely.

Anyway, think you'll agree, a nice little purchase.

My 1917 S&W

This is one of the Brazilian Navy contract models. For professional work I have always used automatics. Mostly 1911s and recently Glocks, but I have always had a feeling for quality revolvers. When I got this one, they were still pretty common, so I decided it would make a good combat revolver. Dumbassed me takes it to an equally dumbdassed "gunsmith" for refinishing and he ground half the Brazilian markings off. Sometimes life's best lessons are the hardest learned.
Designed for .45 Auto Rim (a rimmed version of the .45ACP) it and it's Colt counterpart were substitute standard for the U.S. military in WW1 and many saw service in WW2. Smith marketed it to a number of third world countries, hence the Brazilian Navy contract. This one is dated 1937.
It will shoot .45 ACP when used with half or full moon clips( I couldn't find them in the Ohio container so now need to order more)
Even with the thin sights, this puppy is a tack driver with 230gr .45 ACP ball, but it doesn't shoot cast lead bullets well due to the shallow rifling. I'm still considering a full combat revolver upgrade since I ruined it's collector value.
The walnut grips are original. It's an example of the gunmaker's art, reflecting quality manufacture, and hand fitting. Back when the world had time for such "foolishness"

This one I have dubbed the 'lucky star' because its my first Mzpp star for my collection.

Its in fantastic condition as well, hardly any surface scratches and a nice even patina.

If only all my 'Sevastopol stars' were as nice as this one :b:

Austrian passport 1938…

Hi,

Hope someone can tell more about this passport. It is interesting due to the date of issue and the very short period of time it was used.

Can someone who knows German see what the top-right stamp (also see large close up) on the first page is? Republic Administration? was this implying the passport holder was on official trip? being connected to a bank is this important?

Thanks,

Neil.
