More interesting UK airfield finds.

I'm going on holiday shortly so I thought I'd get on and post my latest finds before I go. Because times a little tight I haven't numbered the pictures like I normally do but I think you'll be ok following the thread.

The first pictures are in as found, I've included a couple of items that I found previously and have recently cleaned up.

1) As found.
2) The remains of painted thin canvas, notice the remains of a white star.
3) An empty US Carbine M1 magazine.
4) This picture shows both sides of a US plastic/bakelite pocket calendar for the years 1945 & 1946.
5) The clip from a US M1 Garand Rifle.
6) I have no idea what this very rusted piece is, 3 views shown.

(cleaned up to follow)

If anyone wants any special photos taking of any particular grave, please drop me a line and I will endevour to take some pics for you.

I will certainly take some general pics in order to do a thread on the forum.

Vichy French Helmet on ebay ?

I started this thread just to discuus this helmet currently listed on ebay. I have not intention of bidding but I'm trying to learn to pick up on details. I'm also curious if this seller has an active imagination or these helmets actually existed. It's listed as a German helmet wiith Vichy french insignia. Did the vichy wear German Helmets ? I thought they had their own unforms & equipment. Also the 33rd Grenadier Div SS Charlemagne would have worn SS helmets I assume. When I look at this helmet all I see is an M35 M40 helmet with a poorly painted tri color shield with a litle blue in it, Curiously enough only the blue part of the shield has worn off, Am I wrong ? The split pins have no paint left on them either , added after the fact or is it possible for the paint to wear so thoroughly off the pins only ? Anyway it's up to $500 fake or not. Thanks for any info, Al

Question Can someone ID my bayonet?

I have had this bayonet for a couple of years now and have been wondering latley where it is from.
It has a waffenampt on the blade and and a number 3 above it and on the reverse it has a circle with what looks like a z or 2 in it.

the bayonet is longer than any i have seen and the "sharp" bit is on the opposite side to others, and when in the scabbard it faces the opposite way.

and on the scabbard lug is what looks like crossed knives/swords

any help would be nice.

regards

baxter
