More 8th airforce finds. you must look

Due to being rained off work yesterday i decided to have a day of getting stung and bitten in an essex wood and boy was it worth it!!! Just look at this lot:shok_yikes:
Im not complaining but i seem to find loads of dog tags (all from the same area) Why is that? I would have thort that a GI would have been in deep s**t if he had lost them Ok some are miss prints so i can see why they would be there but most are fine.

The big green piece of metal is the back of the bomberdeers chair from a B17 and the blue piece of glass is a wing or tail light i think.

I think my best find of the day was the little stash of navigators equipment quite rare i would think. Just to think what has been seen throu the goggle lens cool militaria

I hope all my pictures wont bore you. Let me know what you think:D

Need help! 18pdr Gas shell

Hi all,

Ive trawled through many of the threads on restoration.

and have drawn a blank,

I was given many years ago , a Shell head from a british 18pdr
(Gas shell,) it has a bronze/Brass cap, and iron body.. the iron is very pitted, and i will try this Oxcylic acid you all talk about

But where can i buy it in the UK ???.. and what sort of product is it in ??

and also The main thing is the brass cap, she is a beauty, but has crusted dirt and grime on her, and is a mucky brown,

How do i polish this up without using abrasive techniques, ???.. as I have seen some wonderfully restored shell caps on the net.. and allways wanted to get this one looking the same.. surely there must be a way to dissolve the dirt, and polish her all shiny shiny ??:D

Lt. Jerome Keith, Observer, AEF, Issoudun, France

Here is yet another piece from my aviation collection. Terry Morris and Duncan Campbell both feature Lt. Keith's wing in their publications. The letter from Keith is a very interesting read as flight characteristics of the Neiuport, the capture of a German general, and Rene' Fonck are mentioned in the letter.
