I've had two different guys tell me two different ideas on this helmet. One told me it was WWI medic helmet and another told me it was an Afrika Corps helmet used transitionally. I tend to lean toward WWI but, I thought I'd seek out a few others who may be in the know on these.
Since I'm the new guy here, I thought I'd show just a few helmets from my collection. If you've been on the USMF, I've posted these over there before but, for those who don't know me, here's a few of them. BTW, this is a great forum!cool militaria
Fellas,
This Gentleman is asking my help to list some items he'd like to sell. This is a great grouping! I posted the thread to the Police eagles yesterday. He also has an SA arm band and a K98 Bayonet and frog. The rest of his items are US WW2 and Korean War. This guy was a hero! Earning the Silver Star. Nice transition uniforms as he started out in the USAAF and ending in the Regular Army. This is noted by the set of pinks and greens to the 1st Cav tan summer Class A uniform.
Ask him to send you the PDF of his items. It is really impressive.

Here is a little display I put together a while back. Now, I've got to put together something for my Air Service collection & Tank Corps...
All these items were found several years ago and all came from a small area in a large wood on the Dutch/German border near Roermond. The K98 pouch and Luftwaffe belt buckle were found together. The woods were used for training and as a harbour position for Hubners 3 Para Regt comprising of mostly luftwaffe troops but there was no fighting in this area although it was heavily shelled judging by the amount of shrapnel I found. I also found several lines of 50 cal shells probably from straffing aircraft as it was used as an MSR for fighting in and around the Roer triangle area
I just wanted to share the find with you all. I also found a complete MG34 cleaning kit with anti aircraft sight. The flare pistol(french) was found with dozens of live flare rounds. I also found 2 ZB 26 barrels and two complete boxes of ZB 26 ammo in mags but that was over 10 years ago and sadly I have no digital photos. I have found several helmets one complete with liner and the owners name.
Sometimes the better finds come from echelon areas not directly involved with the fighting. Any info on fighting iaround the Roermond area would be greatfully received
Rgds John
