Wound Badge references

Hey all.........
Was wondering whether anyone could direct me to a site or other reference material regarding the various manufacturers of the Wound Badge. I understand that there were 24 authourized makers. I was thinking of shifting my focus of collection on this badge.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I have currently compiled a list of 16 out of the 24.
Thank you all in advance.

Who did this belong to

This is an aluminium sided knife, as you can see someone engraved it with their name,Alekca Khejcobuth? on the other side his No. 59592 date 1944. On the knife blade, at its base is the makers stamp, a seated King holding an upright sword, the other side is marked solinger metallwaren fabrik. The knife has main blade, spike aul and a screwdriver =file blade. It has been suggested to me that it is not a German name but more likly a Polish one. Any help would be much appreciated. John

Victory Park - Moscow, Russia

Another great museum to visit in Moscow is Victory Park. It was completed in 1995 to celebrate the 50th aniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War.
Victory Park was built on Poklonnaya Gora, the highest hill in Moscow. This was also the hill Napolean watched from as his army surrounded Moscow in 1812.
It is a huge museum/park complex covering 200-300 acres. It has an indoor museum covering WWII from the beginning to the end and is famous for it's huge diorama/paintings. The dioramas blend almost seamlessly into the huge, curved paintings in the background. Quite impressive.
Outside is a huge vehicle park containing tanks, planes, trains, trucks, etc. There is also a lake with ships.
The following are some photos from my visit in 2001.

Best Regards,
Mike

Aircrew barracks - New area discovered !

Hey guys

After my last post and visit I thought I had more or less cleared the area around the barracks of finds. I was sorting out my research on this and other sites when I suddenly noticed that, at some distance from the area I had been searching, there was ANOTHER set of barracks.

So I paid a visit yesterday and it was like starting over again :shok_yikes: :shok_yikes: . I got a large quantity of finds in the area and only searched about 20% of it :o( :o(. Needless to say I shall be returning !

So, here we go with the finds.

Firstly everything I got before cleaning....

And then after cleaning and disposal of bits of crap....

Now for some close ups. Firstly, three items that need identifying. The spoon head looks like it has 2 holes at the base. Part of a fold up cutlery set ? And the bakelite thingy....light switch ? earpiece for a flying helmet ?

Various bits lof lock and even a key :D

Lots of lids and a toothpaste tube, I think they're all WW2 era except maybe the plasters. What do you think ?

A strange container that looks homemade. The edges are by no means even. Wonder what it was made for ? It's far too small for a cigar holder but is that kind of size, if you know what i mean.

A couple of razor handles.

What I think is the remains of a flare gun cartridge. No visible markings in evidence. Its around 3cm in diameter.

Lots of bits of buckle and kit attachments.

Some 303 and a couple of 30cal cartridges.

A badge of some sorts. Which way up does it go ? Anyone know what it is off ?

I found a small stash of English coins, all in one hole. Someone was either very clumsy or I found another card game pot :D :D The older 1 pennies are dated 1873 and 1880. Nice to have two coins dated 1944.

Now for the stuff that got me all excited :D

Firstly some French coins. This, coupled with the below finds are evidence that the German POWs were housed here as well !!

And lastly the German items. 3 nice pebble buttons and a very unusual coin.

The 'renten' pfennig and mark were produced in 1923 and 1924 as an intermediate currency between the Papiermark and the Reichsmark. Strangely it was not legal tender but was accepted and used by the population and effectively stopped the hyper inflation. The Reichsmark was introduced as legal tender on 30th August 1924. Have a look on Wikipedia at the info as it makes interesting reading :) :)

Anyway, that's the lot.

Hope you like them !

Russian Rucksack

I just received this rucksack(from Bulgaria). i was attracted by its dimensions 18 x 22 inches and the fact that it looks like it has seen some action1 there are many stains on it, each of which might have an interesting story to tell! There are no buckles and the strap is broken. There is a piece of string - which looks original - to hold the two straps in place across the chest. Does it seem of GPW vintage? I can't find any markings at all.
thanks
Ian
