Battle Damaged M35 Heer

Hi all,
I'm new here and an avid collector of WW2 items.
I'm not sure if I have posted this in the right place, I'm sure someone will tell me.
I thought I'd share a helmet I bought off eBayUK, the chap said it was a ground dug item and came from Russia somewhere.
After reading Dimas' advice on rust removal with oxalic acid, I tried it out with this helmet, the result is outstanding.
Unfortunately I didn't take any 'before' photos, but you can get the idea of how it looked prior to the rust removal by looking at the liner band which I haven't touched.
I find it amazing that a helmet that took such a heavy hit still has a relatively undamaged liner.
Let me know what you think.

Police • Schutzpolizei M43 Cap

Schutzpolizei M43. I don't know why a metal badge was used instead of a cloth Eagle?
(Perhaps it has to do with the time frame, or just the preference of the wearer?)

Estonia: Juminda peninsula, today visit

I've just make a small family weekend barbeque, and visit the Juminda peninsula. This is a very interesting place with a lot of history facts, but not a lot of information awailable. There was a survived crews from the destroyed ships after they landed ( mostly soldiers, navy and a parts of Estonian destroyer units) reformate to the naval infantry units and most of the died in the forests around. Civilians who are salvaged, was turned back to Tallinn.
So here is some fresh pictures

Todays finds

Guys,

Todays finds on the local market.

The belt is odd but right, I haven't got one with rounded edges to the buckle, any ideas?

The folding spade was a bonus, it was in the American carrier and is painted green but it is a German one!

The box is for the 10 litre chemical weapon, 4 to a box, fortunately empty!

The usual post cards and monthly mags.

Budenovka - fake or original?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and am trying to find out more about a civil war era Budenovka. It bears the hammer & plough that was used between 1918 and 1922. The size is small (about 54) and it shows some wear to exposed parts which is difficult to cover in pictures. Nevertheless I know there are a lot of fakes, some of them quite high quality and difficult to tell. At least this piece has a correcty sewn liner (contrary to the repros I saw from inside). The base metal of the star is copper or something similar, it has darkened but my flash messes up the pictures a bit.

It is hard to find information about the early headgear of the red army, all pictures I found showed the later styles used well after 1922. Any comments would be helpful, maybe somebody even knows an original pre-1922 reference piece? One forum member had the information that a producer from Poland sells reproduced pieces made from old overcoats - it would be a great help to know how to tell such repros by details that allow identification.
