German sword knots

Evening all,

I'm giving myself a bit of a challenge and trying to understand the Sword Knots used by the German Army.

Looking through the Brian L. Davis book to try and gain some info, but it's a total minefield and harder to make sense of that GCSE Algebra :)

Does anyone know if the designs were specific to various ranks and does it follow that the colours used reflect the arm of service, the same as shoulder boards, ie, infantry would have a silver knot with white and so on?

Thanks, any pointers greatfully received!
Neil.

Question Mosin nagant PU, odd numbering.

Hey, guys
I have at long last purchased a russian mosin nagant m91/30 pu sniper rifle, but I do have one concern. The upper reciever is marked ДВ1083, and all of the other numbers match and are stamped not electropenciled but do not have the cyrillic letters in front of them. What could be the reason? All help is appreciated.
Thanks, Dimitri.

An old Ushanka.

Gentleman,

I have spotted an ushanka for sale. I have been through all the threads in this forum about ushankas and have closely examined the photos of other ushankas in the Espenlaub Web page. Based on that, it attracts me.

I assume that, as it happens with many other garments of the soviet uniform, the ushankas probably suffered minor changes after the war. As I have no idea on what to look for on a wartime piece, I would like your help with the identification of this particular specimen.

Again, the photos shown are substandard to say the least, which is a negative point to start with. (the seller states his camera is old). Nevertheless, I would like to see what you think with the data available.

Thanks and regards,

Gus

Ammo found (saltwater norway)

Hi.

Me and my friends go spearfishing around the coastline here in norway. One of our best spearfishing areas are "infront" of a old bunker area. Went out diving a few weeks ago, but due to winter and weather there was no fish. So i started digging around below one of the bunkers at the shoreline.

It became quite clear that somebody dumped a crate of 7.62 ammo here. I also found some smaller calibre ammunition, but it was badly corroded and i didnt bring any back.
I actually didnt find any fired rounds.
They are marked with RA 1942.

I dont know how to add pictures here but i have links:

I googled around and found the headstamps (as far as i understand) mean:
RA - Deutsche Messingwerke Carl Eveking A.G. Metallhalbfabrikate, Berlin-Niederschönweide

I will go back and try to find more. One of my friends said he spotted some boxes in the sand. They looked almost yellow/rusty and were round.
Any feedback/thoughts? I think actually they look pretty good to have been exposed to saltwater since the mid 40s. Some of them look to still be watertight
