Hi Guys, the respirator was the main peice of anti gas equipment issued but other items were also a very important part of the kit issue.
War gases come in various forms. A lot of gases were designed to react on the skin and cause blisters. Here we have some items which were designed to protect the wearer.
First we have an anti gas hood. This particular one is Canadian issue. It is a treated camo cloth hood impregnated with linseed oil. Care needs to be taken with the storage of these kind of items as they will easily stick together ;)

Hi Guys, this is a hard to find version of the standard British respirator. They were issued to troops who due to the nature of their work could not wear the respirator bag in the usual "ready" position on the chest. As a result, the postion of wear was changed to the side of the body.
This particular example, from my wife's Lez's collection, was issued to an ATS girl who worked on the "Ack - Ack" guns. Note her name and serial number inked to the flap of the bag.
Cheers, Ade.

I bought this "British helmet" off of ebay. The helmet cost me $28 shipped so I am not going to be mad if it turns out not to be British after all. The liner is in OK shape. It has this weird decal showing though the paint as shown in the pictures. Do you think I should try to clean up the liner with some saddle soap or let it be? I use pecard antique leather dressing for my old rifle slings and it works wonders.

Hello Ade/Forum Members,
This is the last Luftwaffe badge I have that I could do with advice on. The scan makes it look brighter than it is. It has an "A' makers mark on the reverse and has had a bad repair with both rivets being filed and soldered. This has left heavy scratches around these areas. What would be your feelings on this? I cleaned the reverse as it was so bad and now wish I hadn't (well if it is a fake then it wont matter!).
Kind regards, Malcolm.
