WWII SSh-40 helmet

Ok, I'd like to know if there is a real way to differentiate WWII Ssh-40 helmets with early post-war SSh-40 helmets. Beside the stamps which are absent, do you think there is a way to know if this helmet is WWII period? I always believed it's a WWII issued helmet.

Allgemeine Visor

I have had this well used, salty visor a number of years but would like to have some opinions please. There are no labels inside and I can’t see that there ever was. The cap material is made of fine wool, or something very similar.

Glue or Solder …. ?

My second question is this ......

I have rather a nice salty Allgemeine Visor which is minus the metal cap insignia. Now, I have sent a deposit for a pair that I have been looking for which will most probably suit aged the cap.

The eagle has already been restored with 3 pins nicely back in place, but the skull has one and a half pins missing. I do have a few skull pins that I have salvaged from the past. What would be the best way to restore the skull.... ? Glue the new pins in or solder them ..... ?

Your advise please.

499/41 Skull with Glued Pins

What an interesting forum this is .....

I have a question for you restorers. I have a as you can see a rather nice looking 499/41 visor badge but unfortunately some has stuck using araldite glue or something similar.
My question is …. How can I remove the glue and pins cleanly to leave the round fittings but pin less….. ?
