M42 Wire Basket Combat Vet

Hey gang...I've been looking for one for a while....but wanted to make sure it was the real deal and not a recently contrived lid - it arrived today!

New to the collection - a CKL66 M42 helmet with wire. This came from Paul at Lakesidetrader and he picked this up along with many other items from the veteran's son. These were all packed away in '45 and haven't come out of the footlocker since!! Way cool - it still has some of the mud on it from when it was taken!

The veteran was a jeep driver for the Allied war correspondents & photographers like Ernie Pyle and Robert Capa. He must have seen quite a bit of scenery going from one "hotspot" to the next.

This helmet has a lot of character - if only it could talk!
Dome stamped but can't make out what it says.
Size 58 liner is a bonus: it fits my huge melon!

Here are some pics....Lots to come!!

Rob

If you have interest send me a PM please.
Cheers, Appie.

Nazi zombies ahead…

It just came on the 'news' about someone cutting the lock off of a traffic sign(you know, the one's in lights that tell of traffic jams etc.) and inserting their own message. Nazi zombies ahead, run for your lives, the end is near and some others. It happened in Texas. It went on for a few hours before anyone got wise and stopped it. Nobody interviewed seemed upset or anything. Laughed and shrugged it off.

Black Alter Art Cap

Gentlemen, what's your thoughts about this cap currently for sale from regimentals in England?

http://www.regimentals.co.uk/shop/vi...h=41706&phqu=5

A quick search on google came up with this from Jahres Auktion September 2008.

"Waffen-SS, Schwarze Schirmmütze für Führer 1.750,00 €
Schwarzer Trikotstoff, weiße Vorstöße, schwarzer Samtbesatzstreifen, Metalladler und Totenkopf, silberne
Mützenkordel, schwarzer Lederschirm. Schwarzes Baumwollfutter mit Hersteller 'Otto Goldeband, Wien', braunes
Lederschweißband."

No doubt the same cap.

I'm not concerned with how many hands it's passed through recently, I would just like to hear some honest opinions about the cap itself. I have some doubts but not having owned much of the "black stuff" I'd welcome some advise.

Pics aren't the best. Actually, they're bloody terrible. When will dealers learn that good photos equal good sales! :weep:

M-35? Take a look at this one …

I buddy of mine has this helmet. He seems to think it is an m35 model. It is painted black, has liner, no decals.
Has a rolled rim.

What do you guys think of it? What should I offer him?
Any ideas?

WW1 Helmet

I just found your site and guys I must say I am very impressed. I didn’t even know places like this existed. Anyway I have a question: A buddy of mine gave me this WW1 helmet and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the insignia is? Is it real or just something someone put on the helmet? Thanks in advance and again I love the sight.

Totenkopf Combat Display Finished!

My thanks to Albert, of Nuremburg, who sold me a wonderful field modified reversible coat. I had looked for such a modified camo coat for a number of years. This is the completion of my Totenkopf enlisted tunic display.
