I know I can't post pics here without them having a watermark so if anyone wants to email me or something to get the pics...
I have an old helmet. I believe it is a WW II helmet but not for sure. I can't tell if it is front or rear seam. It has the liner with it and some faint markings on the liner, I'm sure of the name who it belonged to but you can't make them out. You can barely make out the numbers in the liner but they are very faint too. There isnt a dealer or anything anywhere around here for me to take it too but thought I would try here. Thanks.
I got this while living in Germany in the 70-80's. Boards are attaced with strings through double holes. There's a seam (hard to see in photos) running from the mid-top of the pocket to the mid-shoulder area.
All but two of the buttons are "Waterbury Conn" marked.
It is possible to date? The 2 replacement buttons are multi-piece but rather cheap sheet brass stamped.
This is my first post on the forum so here goes, I always like finding a good relic as does anyone, i was at an auto jumble this weekend when i spotted a ww2 american vehicle medical tin underneath the old car bits, the hinges were rusted shut but i snapped it up from the dealer (who didnt have a clue what it was! ) for £5 , i took it away and gently prised it open to reveal that it still had all its original medical equipment!! .. torniquet set, gauze pads, bandages etc..
I wondered, what is the best way to clean rust from paint and sort the hinges out?
I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for award documents for the following two German Third Reich Army officers:
Major Georg Briel, AfrikaCorps officer.
Lt Col Wilhelm Walther, Brandenburg officer.
Also, if anyone would have pictures of these two officers. I have both of these officers Army daggers in my collection and each of them were Knight's Cross winners.
