A part of a WW2 Waller Mark 2 Aerial Machine Gunnery Trainer

I recently purchased this airspeed/altitude indicator at a local auction because I thought it looked interesting. It is made out of plywood and looks to be a mock up. There is a metal tag on it that says: Machine Gun Trainer Mark 2, The Vitarama Corp. Long Island City, NY. 1942. After some internet searches I found this link (The Waller Flexible Gunnery Trainer). describing the Waller Flexible Gunnery Trainer "one of the top secret developments of the war and was on the restricted list of equipment". "The Trainer was used by the U. S. Army Air Corps, U. S. Navy. and the British for the final training and retraining of machine gunners. Just wondering if anyone has come across any parts of this trainer.

Question M42 w/ Decal- Heer or KM?

Greetings!

I’ve done it again, and picked up another German helmet this summer. It’s a M42, looks to be marked ET66 but the stamping is tough to read. Liner isn’t in the best of shape but it’s pliable, and on an interesting note it has the remnants of a M27 chinstrap on the bales. My gut feeling is that is it is a toned Heer, but it looks pretty golden in hand. Please let me know what you think. I did my best for focused outdoor photos in the beautiful Wisconsin sunshine!

Thank you very much for your feedback!
Johannes

Waffen SS Helmet

I have my eye on this Waffen SS M42 Normandy Pattern Camo Helmet. The Dome Stamp is visible inside the crown and I would like some opinions and comments on this helmet, the decal etc. that is from a Vets Estate Sale. I would like to hopefully get the thumbs up before I pull the trigger on this one.

Usersonline, guests V’s members disparity

I find it odd that we have so many people viewing the site, but so few of them are members of any sort. It is not that you have to pay to become a basic member which allows you free access to pretty much everything here.

When I started this thread the stats were:

2026 users online. 63 members and 1963 guests

Perhaps it does not matter, but it is odd IMO.

13 July 1943

Hello everyone,

I just received my tobacco box yesterday and I just decided to make a little display about a future project that i want to make (a tankman during the battle of Kursk in July 1943).

The plain in front of him is full of black smoke, wrecked and abandoned tanks, the harsh sounds of the battle let the place of a rare quiet moment …

Our tankman take a little rest after the last checking on the engine of his t34/76 mod43 and take the time to smoke a little cigarette and read the last newspaper in company of his crews and the frontovik on their side …
975266

On the 3th pages he saw a nice picture of a complete KV-1 crew, that’s remember him the first time with his own crew during Stalingrad that was the baptism of fire for his comrades and him … our man is a veteran recently awarded for his efficiency with a red banner order but … he know that the battle of Kursk will be another terrible chapter of this war … the German push hard but the lines of defenses hold still … for how long … ?
He don’t have the time to finish his cigarette, transmission coming from the HQ ; "Stukas has been seen, prepare to repulse another attack !" …

Just a little text for make that display a little bit more "alive" ! Hope you like.

The tobacco box is engrave with the words "for the motherland !", "for Stalin !" above and below the tank we can read "In memory of the battle of Stalingrad".
The newspaper is from 13 July 1943.
