This is another item from the collection of 1st Lt. Wm. Frank Lambeth, A company, 81st Chemical Mortar Battalion. There were two zeltbahns in the collection. One is the standard zelt. This other one has the grommets but does not have buttons or button holes on the sides or anywhere else. Is this an odd variation or did he capture this before it was finished? There are no marks on it that I can find and it is the normal size.
thanks
Sam
This cap I bought with the fallschirmjager helm and other stuff from the family of 1st Lt Wm. Frank Lambeth, A company, 81st Chemical mortar Battalion. The hat bill is loose and my question is whether it is the correct bill. The only bills I have seen on Luftwaffe officer hats, in my limited time of collecting, have green bottoms with squares. This bill is smooth on both sides with a somewhat cheap looking edging.
The holes for the stitching seem to match the odd bill. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I am new to collecting WWII German pieces but I came across a WWII collection that I could not refuse. The fellow that owned this and a whole bunch of other stuff was 1st Lt Wm. Frank Lambeth. He served in the 81st Chemical Mortar Battalion, company A. This helmet was captured by him some time between June 13th when he landed in France and August 3rd when he wrote home asking if they had received it yet. I have other helmets, uniforms, hats, flags, and a lot of field gear from the fellow. Some of which I wish to ask about and some I will just show because I think it is interesting and I hope you all will enjoy it.
Let me know what you think

In the following months I will be trying to translate a diary by a Finnish "Lotta" soldier on her first assignement in Kutsa, east of Salla in Northern Finland. Situated there were German Gebirgsjäger, SS and Luftwaffe troops during one month in June in 1944. Enjoy.
P.s. Ive decided not to publish any original names and I will not do so even if asked to. All else is true, as written by the author. The books stand about 20X15 cms and pages are handwritten. Approx 100 pages. Two pictures accompany the diary and the taking of one documented in the diary.
"Ein Märchen..... is from the German Folksong "Die Lorelei" (see YTUBE).
Gentlemen,
I was a happy man when arriving from work today, as my Order of the Patriotic War Second class had arrived.
It is numbered 369413, which is means it was issued approximately in mid 1944/start of 1945, according to a fellow member of the Soviet Militay Awards forum.
Regards,
Gus
