Just wondering if you could shed some light on this Gas Mask can I just got. It is marked 44 on the latch.
It is spray painted a bluish grey over the original green. Any idea why that would have been done? Luftwaffe? Inside was a Czech Gas Mask dated 1939. It has a 1951 dated replacement canister.

This is my first true post discussing militaria on this forum. I wanted to post some shots of the cloth insignia that I found at the SOS.
My first post is of 4 uncut/unfolded flatwire breast eagles. These are usually seen on the waffenrock or a walking out dress tunic. They generally have a backing cloth on them too.
The second is of the enlisted breast eagles and the third is of cap eagles and roundles. As you can probably tell I collect Heer cloth insignia!:):)
